I am looking for some pictures, photographs, descriptions, etc, of ammunition for the Fusil d Infanterie Mle 1842 - 1857. I would like to see both the ammunition packets....I assume they were in group of ten with percussion caps.....also the chests of wood, which I guess had @1000 cartridges in them.
The earliest carridge wrappers I found pictures of were for the Tabatier, but I haven't found anything on the wooden boxes, nothing from before the Great War.
French or Belgian would do, I suppose they would be very similar. Many thank for any help!!
